Our purpose is to conduct hearing and vision screenings in the Valdosta City and Lowndes County Schools, Valwood, St. John’s, Crossroads Baptist School, Georgia Christian and Southland in grades three and six.

On August 26, 2019 we kicked off the 2019 Hearing and Vision testing at Westside Elementary!

2017 SCHOOL YEAR

H&V-GIF.gifThis August and September, members of the Valdosta Junior Service League provided hearing and vision screenings for over 3,650 third and sixth-grade students in the city, county, charter and private schools within our community.  This year we tested more students than ever, as our schools continue to grow!

Early detection and treatment of hearing and vision disorders provide children the best opportunity to develop academically, emotionally and socially.  With 18 VJSL members volunteering at the schools this year, we are able to screen several hundred students each morning.

Since the 1950s, the Valdosta Junior Service League has been recognized widely for its service in the area of hearing screening.

On September 14, 2017 Valdosta State University celebrated the Speech and Hearing Clinic's 55th anniversary!  Several VJSL members attended the reception to celebrate the clinic, the service to the community, and the history that we share!
